Procurement Correspondence, July 2, 1937–June 18, 1942

1937-1942

This series consists of copies of letters and telegrams sent and received by the Superintendent of the Pierre Indian School relating to the acquisition, purchase, and transfer of supplies and equipment used in Civilian Conservation Corps - Indian Division (CCC-ID) activities. Acquisition of supplies and equipment was accomplished through direct open market purchase, requisition through CCC and Office of Indian Affairs procurement sources, and transfer of surplus property from other government agencies. Included within the correspondence are requests for open market authorities, requisitions, justifications for purchase, annual estimates of needs, inquiries to manufacturers, and other related records. The majority of the correspondence deals with the procurement of motor vehicles and implements used in irrigation, reforestation, and erosion projects.
